Frenectomy

A frenectomy is a surgical procedure to remove the frenulum. The frenulum is the small, thin piece of tissue that connects the underside of the tongue to the floor of the mouth and also connects the upper lip to the gums above the front teeth. A frenectomy may be necessary if the frenulum is too tight and restricts tongue movement or if the tissue causes a gap between the front teeth.

This is a relatively simple procedure that can be performed in our office. Before we remove the tissue, we will thoroughly numb the area so you are comfortable.

If you are experiencing problems with your frenulum, please call our office to schedule an appointment. We can help determine if a frenectomy is the best solution for you!
